Feminist Fashionistas March Down “Boulevard Chanel”

Chanel was not afraid to get political during its Spring/Summer 2015 show today at Paris Fashion Week. Karl Lagerfeld lead models (such as Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner) down “Boulevard Chanel” with “Fashion Not War” and “Free Freedom” signs.

Although an awesome spectacle, some began to question whether or not Lagerfeld should be the one to lead a feminist march. The main reason why many found fault with Lagerfeld? His negative comments about “curvy” and “fat” women, including this comment he made about Adele:

“She [Adele] is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.”

Lagerfeld drama aside, the clothes were fantastic. I would wake up excited for work on Mondays if I could wear these outfits.

Seriously, nobody does tweed like Chanel.

The collection also included a lot of watercolor prints and peace symbols that screamed the ’70s, adding to the women’s rights movement theme.

In conclusion, feminist fashionistas: YAY! Lagerfeld’s thoughts on curvy women: NAY!
